Discover the real Lake District at your own pace without a guide. Seasoned Kankku adventurers discover the real Lake District at their own pace as they drive an adventurous 4x4 Safari in a simply awesome ex-army Land Rover.

Explore normally unseen parts of the Lake District by specialist 4x4. Kankku’s tough and capable ex army Land Rovers take you back to basics to simply enjoy the inspirational Lake District environment.

Drive yourself on an adventurous journey, exploring a mix of historic off road Lakeland tracks and winding back roads all at your own pace. We’ll give you the keys and a briefing along with maps, satellite gps and a road book direction system to take care of the navigation while you enjoy the drive. You can then add in a short walk, relaxing lunch stop or spectacular view point to complete your day of intrepid adventure.

A Safari experience is great with friends or family... and you can share the driving. We recommend a maximum of four people.

1. MEET AT KANKKU HQ FOR A SAFETY BRIEFING AND TRAINING

Join us at Kankku HQ for an introduction to SAFARI and an explanation of your route. We will run through the safety aspects and introduce you to the navigation system that will be used to keep you on track. Don’t forget to bring your driving licence with you.

2. GET BEHIND THE WHEEL AND GO

We will introduce you to your vehicle and give you the chance to familiarise yourself with the cockpit. Decide who is navigating and who is driving first as you will need to work together to navigate the National Park and off road tracks. With a satellite GPS and your navigator ready, let’s drive!

3. WORK WITH YOUR NAVIGATOR TO DISCOVER YOUR WAY

Without a Kankku guide you will need to use the road book direction system and GPS to navigate your way around our expertly designed routes. Your navigator is armed with all the instructions needed to safely tackle any off road obstacles and keep you on track throughout the day.

4. TACKLE TOUGH TERRAIN

While the terrain isn’t as challenging as our guided technical challenge, you will have to navigate rocky off road lanes along your route. Don’t worry - our capable Land Rovers are the perfect vehicles to tackle the off road terrain.

5. TAKE A BREAK AND ENJOY ALL THE LAKE DISTRICT HAS TO OFFER

While en route there are plenty of chances to stop for a short walk, relaxing lunch or spectacular view point to complete your Lake District adventure.
